Mitsubishi Takes Electric Cars Up Pikes Peak
If you hadn’t heard that Mitsubishi has been making waves in the electric car market, you may want to swing by Lovering Mitsubishi and take a look at the 2013 i-MiEV, one of the most popular electric vehicles available today. There are many reasons for drivers to look toward electric powertrains over traditional gasoline ones, but regardless of the reason drivers are looking to switch, many are still hesitant, unsure that an electric motor can handle what a standard engine can.
So Mitsubishi is sending two electric vehicles up Pikes Peak to show drivers just what kind of power an electric car has.
Electric and Four Wheel Drive? You Bet!
At the Pike’s Peak International Hill Climb, many different automakers compete, some with as many as a dozen different vehicles, to show just what their engineers are capable in such unorthodox conditions.
Last year, the i-MiEV received second place, and the i-MiEV Evolution II, which will be scaling Pikes Peak this year, is equipped with a high capacity battery and features redesigned high output motors. Add on Mitsubishi’s Super All-Wheel Control System, a new four-wheel drive configuration built to improve both handling and control, and it looks as though Mitsubishi could come out on top of the Hill Climb.
The new i-MiEV has been improved in other ways as well, being both lighter and better-equipped than its predecessor, with a body that has received an updated, more aerodynamic design.
While we expect that the competing i-MiEV will be geared a bit more toward the competition, the road-ready version carries many features that area drivers love, including options like an eight speaker sound system, leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and, of course, never having to visit a gas station again.
Able to go from zero to fully-charged in just about seven hours, the i-MiEV can get you about sixty miles on a single charge, making it a great choice for city drivers, and presumably a great choice for scaling a mountain.

Drivers still scoff a bit at the idea of electric vehicles, but options like the i-MiEV are slowly turning that around. Tune in on June 30th to see how Mitsubishi performs in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, or come by Lovering Mitsubishi sooner to take a look at this impressive EV for yourself.
